The no department in the total hours reports is for punches that are into a specific department. It is not an indication if a user is in a department, only what departments he punched into and for how long. Does that clear it up?

i'm sorry but i can't understand! :D

here's my report ("entrata" is the italian word for "in", and "uscita" for "out"):

Image

First of all i don't know why on Friday i get "65.5" on "uscita".

Then, i understand tc as i "punch in" when i step into my office, and i "punch out" when i go outside. So i really don't know how to get the total hours worked for each person. have i misunderstood the meaning of "punch"!?

In the report you're seeing the daily totals for each punch status broken down by department. In this case none of the punches were associated with a department. Does that help clear it up?

I have the same issue and do not understand your answers to his questions.
---------------------------------------------
The no department in the total hours reports is for punches that are into a specific department. It is not an indication if a user is in a department, only what departments he punched into and for how long. Does that clear it up? No I don't understand what you are saying here...!!! Can you try to rephrase that?
---------------------------------------------
I have this enabled:
Display the name of the department for each punch in all reports? Default is 'Yes'. (I have it set to 'Yes')

I would think this means that when I pull up a report the department name will be where 'no department' is.

My user that I am testing with is set up in a department, but this department does not show up in the report, only 'no department'.

HELP?

Each punch made can be associated with a department. If a user associates a punch with a particular department it is stored in the database. If the user does not associate a punch with a department, there is of course no department to store in the database. When you run a report you can choose to display an associated department with a particular punch. From your indication you have told it to display the department associated with each punch. If a user has not specified a department for that punch "No Department" is displayed to indicated that sate. If the user did associate a punch with a department, then that department is displayed.
